Purple False Foxglove is a native annual commonly found in wetlands, meadows, and along shorelines in North America. It features showy tubular flowers, ranging from pink to purple with pale pink throats and reddish spots, blooming abundantly from late summer into fall. The plant is partially parasitic, tapping into the roots of other plants for nutrients. It attracts bees, including bumblebees and leaf-cutting bees, and serves as a food source for the larvae of the Common Buckeye butterfly.
