Yellow Giant Hyssop is a robust perennial with lower leaves becoming quite large. Its flower spike can grow quite tall, though the small creamy flowers shift in color from soft yellow to light purple as they bloom in late summer and fall. This plant is a major nectar source for honeybees, bumblebees, and butterflies, attracting pollinators well into the fall and often until the first frost. While adaptable, it thrives in savanna-like conditions with part shade and rich soil but won't tolerate deep shade or consistently dry sites. Deer-resistant due to its bitter foliage, Yellow Giant Hyssop spreads slowly by rhizomes and prefers areas like meadows, fencerows, and thickets.
